Electrostatic Discharge
Electrostatic Discharge
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage or destroy electronic
components. Therefore, all work performed on assemblies consisting of
electronic components should be done at a static-free work station.
Figure 9-6 is an example of a static-safe work station using two kinds of
ESD protection:
• conductive table mat and wrist-strap combination
• conductive floor mat and heel-strap combination
These methods may be used together or separately.
